Christmas is less than a month away and everywhere you go you can hear Christmas music. Peter has actually downloaded over 14 hours of Christmas music on our phones so we can listen to Christmas tunes…
Christmas music is pretty much the same everywhere. ”White Christmas”, ”I’ll be home for Christmas”, ”Jingle Bell”, ”Little Drummer Boy”, ”Ave Maria” etc…
But on this side of the pond we also have some tunes that I never really hear in Canada. One of them is ”Fairytale of New York” by The Pogues and the late Kirsty Maccoll. Peter LOVES this song! and whenever I hear this song I think of my friend Nicki!
And there’s ”Driving Home For Christmas” by Chris Rea. This one I hear and I cringe because this is the song that when I wake up in the middle of the night I will start freaking humming…”driving home for Christmas..” 3 am, ”Driving home for Christmas..” 4:15am Geez go to bed already!!! ”Driving home for Christmas” 5:30 am! Might as well get up. (Now that I have put this video on my blog, you can bet your bottom dollar this Mama will be up at 3:00 am !!! MERDE!!!!!)
When Peter downloaded the 14 hours of music, one of the albums he found was a UK album titled ”Now that’s what I call Christmas”. It has all the classics but I was really surprised to find ”A Spaceman Came Traveling” by Chris De Burgh. My brother was a HUGE fan of Chris De Burgh (Louis, instant flashbacks of the basement in Châteauguay). I used to listen to this song all year round, how is this a Christmas song? But now that I pay a little attention to the lyrics….it sort of makes sense…or is it the wine I’m drinking at the moment? I don’t know. So did Jesus come on the spaceship? What was Chris smoking? What is in my wine?
Oh well, still a great song, anytime of the year!
By the way, this one came on youtube after the Driving Home for Christmas one. Look at the 80s hair.
Enjoy your Christmas Music EVERYWHERE!
